Vision & Mission
Vision
"To mold a model village that ensures equal justice for marginalized communities through Eco-friendly and sustainable development, while achieving self-reliance in the agricultural and tourism sectors."
Environmental Protection: Ensure development that preserves the greenery and biodiversity of Pozhuthana, which is a part of the Western Ghats.
Social Justice: Since this is a region with a high population of Tribal (ST) and plantation worker communities, ensure equal rights and opportunities for all.
Health and Education: Build a high-quality society through excellent healthcare and educational facilities.
Mission
To transform the Panchayat's vision into reality, the Pozhuthana Grama Panchayat focuses on the following key missions:
1. Agricultural Progress and Livelihood
Promote traditional farming and plantation crops (tea, coffee, pepper) and provide the necessary support to farmers.
Strengthen the rural economy through dairy development and animal husbandry.
2. Sustainable Tourism
Implement Eco-friendly 'Responsible Tourism' by leveraging Pozhuthana's natural beauty and rivers (for example, rafting in the Pozhuthana River), thereby creating employment opportunities for a large segment of the population.
3. Infrastructure Development and Housing
Ensure safe housing, drinking water, better roads, and electricity for everyone.
Efficiently implement schemes like the LIFE Mission to become a Panchayat with zero homelessness.
4. Social Welfare and Women Empowerment
Ensure the financial and social independence of women by strengthening the Kudumbashree movement.
Formulate special projects to uplift the living standards of Scheduled Tribe (ST) communities and plantation workers.
5. Waste Management and Sanitation
Strengthen the operations of the Haritha Karma Sena as part of the 'Malinyamuktham Navakeralam' (Waste-Free New Kerala) project, and maintain the Panchayat's status of total cleanliness through source-level waste management.
